Service is horrible. Portions are extremely small. Very expensive. Not what it used to be. Very disappointed.

This outback is extremely odd. The service isn't quite rude, but it seems scattered and obvious things that should be brought to the table (like silverware) needed to be asked for. Our waitress was extremely nice about being asked for things, it's just that we had to ask. I ordered something, a salad, that I've had at other outbacks. I was surprised by how small the portion of a meal sized salad was. My fellow dinner also commented that he thought his steak was smaller than advertised and there was very little of the sides. I used to associate outback with massive portions and noticeably smaller portions is something new. Across the street is Ranch House, a native Santa Fe steak house. The contrast was not lost on me. There the service is great, the portions consistent etc. I've been to a number of Outback restaurants at least 3 different states and this one left me puzzled.

An embarrassment. Ordered unlimited shrimp and the waiter never asked if I wanted more (never came back to refill water until we were ready to leave). The place isn't even busy. Stay away from this place - make the effort to go anywhere else

I like Outback Steakhouse, not a huge fan but for a steakhouse you can't really complain. But today, I found reason to. We entered at 6:50 PM for dinner and were seated fairly quickly. We ordered almost immediately, we both knew what we wanted. I got a Caesar Salad and a Rib Eye, medium-rare, and my guest ordered a porterhouse, medium, and a plain salad. Our server nudged us to getting certain items despite the fact we weren't interested. We received our bread fairly quickly in a state I can only describe as burnt. There was something off about it and I can only guess that it was a few minutes too many in the oven. What followed was a 20 minute wait for SIDE SALAD. When it got there the salad was a bit mushy, IE not crunchy like lettuce is fresh. It seems like the lettuce either wasn't that fresh or had been marinating in the dressing for some time. We finish the salads and wait some more. Another 20 minutes to be exact! Now I'm no expert when it comes to cooking steaks, but it's to my understanding it does NOT take 40 minutes to cook a 10 oz steak medium-rare. When our plates finally did arrive I discovered that my steak had been cooked either medium or medium-well, there was not much pink left in the middle. In addition the meat was very fatty, probably 2-3 oz were pure unchewable flavorless fat. The steamed broccoli was very good on the other hand. For a $20 meal I was not impressed. Service was extraordinarily slow despite not being very busy. Food was mediocre, but worse than that, parts of the order were wrong. Our server only checked on us once during the entire hour and a half meal. We had to bother him for a drink refill. I would advise trying another restaurant for a decent steak, I don't think this franchise is up to par.

I went to outback and it was the worse experience ever . The waiter was very unprofessional and had a excuse for everything. After a hour of waiting for our food we finally got up and left and complained to the manager when we left and they didn't seem to care . I waited a few weeks and then called to get the number to the cooperate headquarters and supposedly the general manager of that location was the one that answered the phone. His name is plattamere. So he asked what the problem was and I explained. I told him I would call back with the exact date and time after I checked my calendar for this awful experience. I told him I was very disappointed in how this outback runs. He still didn't seem to really care. So like I said I called back with the details and to this day he has never followed up like he said he would. Talk about poor customer service. I WILLLLLL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS SUCKY RESTAURANT. I would rather go to the trouble of driving to alb to a nice steak restaurant then deal with this rude , unprofessional restaurant again. OUTBACK IN SANTA FE SUCKS. Trust me I tell everyone about the shitty attitude. Don't waste your money here.

6:00 on a Sunday and only prime rib available is well done. Better management needed

As usual, the service stunk and it was filthy. We were told we'd have a half hour wait for our online "no-wait seating" since we were 15 minutes early. Sadly a table of nine managed to walk in and be seated while our table of seven made small talk in the waiting area. Our waitress however was fantastic and was rewarded very appropriately even though the food was lousy which unfortunately I expected. I can usually handle a bit of bad service, but for a $25 steak, it should at the very least be "ok". Please, at least cook it to the right temp. This was the fourth and last attempt for me with Outback. Please Santa Fe, bring in a decent eating establishment.

Never again. Service was atrocious the food was mediocre. Next time I will go across the street to the ranch house which is always great.

Just wanted a quick steak dinner. 1.5hrs later the food was average and the service slow. Go to the place across the parking lot.

My husband and I were visiting my in-laws in Los Alamos and took a day trip into Santa Fe and stopped at the Outback for dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty but the service was questionable, at best. The server seemed to forget the table next to us (they kept commenting about how they were never going to get their orders) and it took almost 15 minutes for my husband and I to get our orders from the bar. My mother-in-law had the pork chops and loved them and I had the filet (topped with horseradish - yum) which was good as always. My husband and father-in-law had the 3 course special (steak, salad and dessert) and both seemed to find the steak especially tough. I can't really speak to that as mine was fine, but they didn't really enjoy their meat very much.

Going to the Outback is a 50/50 deal. Sometimes its very good and sometimes it's very very bad. I have walked out more than once. Always before ordering ! Anything over 15 minuets to get acknowledged doesn't work for me. Only had one bad meal, steak looked like it was the last one in the box and was uneatable,

Reviews Nail Banger- April 20,2012 Second time to check out the Outback. The food is O.K. the Lamb is very good. Both time the service was disappointing, this last time the waitress completely forgot the Appetizer and it never show up on the Bill? If you plan on going, lower your expectations on the service. The couple sitting right next to us had been there an hour and a half and were getting ready to just leave, but were coaxed by the Manager to stay and there meal finally arrived. The Wait Staff have a lot to learn, but I suspect that that will never change unless the Management deems it to be needed to keep the doors open.Literally nothing about the service or the way you order anything here will come to you the way you expect it.We have eaten at the Outback in several locations with very different outcomes.

After a week in Santa Fe and eating New Mexico cuisine, we decided we wanted a steak for our last night in the area. We headed over to the local Outback since it was close by to where we were staying. The service was prompt and attentive and the food was predictable, as you want it with restaurant chain. Outback didn't let us down.

My family (three kids) usually go out to eat twice a month and the kids wanted to go to Outback. I'm usually not expecting Great service at chain restaurants but this time was great! The hostess was friendly and brought a (clean!) highchair, Abby was our waitress and brought us everything we needed throughout the night. Bloomin' Onion was cooked perfectly, salads and bread were fresh, entrees were perfect and dessert was Chocolate Thunder... so delicious! Again, our waitress Abby was great and hopefully we can ask for her next time. I would recommend Outback to anyone...!

I went for a second try during mid afternoon for an early dinner. In Florida and abq this chain it was a favorite...now in Santa Fe it was a close to the worst!!! I will not go back...plates smaller, potatoes smaller,I had to ask for. Bread. The ribs, after I asked for dry rub, no sauce, came smothered stuffed on the small plate! A waiter replaced them, to go, and they were not even wrapped carefully, just thrown in a stroform box on a piece of foil.. This cost over $24.00.. No more for me...sad

We use to eat at Outback on date night often. After retirement, we started eating our heavy meal at noon. Most Outbacks don't open for lunch. So we were surprised to find this one severing lunch. I think the quality of their steaks are not so good or as good as they were in the past. Wait staff was fine. The food was just OK. There are plenty better steak houses around, maybe not Santa fe. Probably want be going to a outback in the near future.

New Year's Eve 2014- worst service EVER!! They were NOT busy, several open tables. Brandy, the manager, decided to "host" even though she had a HOST on duty!! I ordered a margarita - I got my appetizer , hot bread, dinner - and after I was eating dinner I got my margarita! I asked for manager ( Brandy) I was told bartender was " slammed"! Interesting - I looked over at the bartender- he was NOT busy - he was visiting with patrons at the bar! Brandy brought my drink... Eventually ... Did she comp it? Nooooi! Did she offer dessert? Nooo! Besides us... Other tables had dirty plates empty drinks/ and Brandy stood at hostess stand the ENTIRE time!!! No one was waiting for a table, so I think the host could have handled it fine... I've been here on a Sat night with lines out the door ( of course, Brandy was not there) and had better service - food good but experience ruined by awful service! When I was a manager at another large chain... Managers were required to help wait staff and kitchen!! Brandy needs to find another profession ... Even her staff agreed that she is awful! There you go Outback home office!!! I will never return as it appears from other posters- they DONT care!!! Outback- hire new staff or this location is toast !

I'm a native NM and love our New Mexican food. Red or Green... This time around I though..Aaah what the heck let's do a corporate food chain... Instead of our traditional menu beans, chili, tacos, enchiladas etc. Wrong! Service was incredibly horrible. I ordered the NEW Sesame salad lunch portion my choices were with either salmon, chicken or Ahi tuna... I chose the tuna. Wrong again.... When she brought my plate the tuna was black ...if anyone has ever had tuna it isn't black... Needless to say it was sent back, brought back and now I believe this is what you call food poisoning....

I'm not a fan of corporate America restaurants, so writing this is unique for me. We went there and sat at the bar, were promptly greeted by an incredible bartender, Julian. He was friendly, funny and put us to ease recommending drinks and eats. I found the service to be very attentive with staff coming from all directions for food, bread, drinks, silverware, etc. Seemed to be a very happy team that works here. Had baby back ribs where were served very hot, tender and my friend had shrimp. We both thought the quality was very good, great service. I know that others had dissimilar reviews, but I thought the food quality was very good, the staff great (especially Julian the bartender) and would go back again. Drinks, eats and dessert for $40 for two I thought was very reasonable.

I have dined at Outback in multiple states. This location was by far the worst. The staff was not welcoming, unfriendly, inattentive, and appeared as though they didn't want to be there. This location definately needs some customer service training.

This Outback location has revamped service, server-loyalty, retrained staff with higher expectations, food service time is improved - there is new life in this restaurant. For those of us previously disappointed, go to the Santa Fe Outback and enjoy a delicious meal served with enthusiasm and dedication to customer satisfaction. 100% improvement!

Horrible experience! The only good part of it was the hostess who was very nice, and my first glass of wine. Three people at our table ordered the filet. All of them were smashed looking and different sizes. The plate was so lame looking. A blob of potatoes and a filet. My poor dad got his steak without his potatoes. They said they were coming. 10 minutes later we had to ask some odd person to get it for him. The waitress was terrible! She checked on us at the beginning and end of the meal. We had to get random workers to get us what we needed. We had 5 different people get things for us. Beers took 10 minutes to get to us. Our entrees took about 30 minutes. At the end of the meal, the waitress blamed stuff on a new bartender. Yeah right. I'm so sick of horrible service in Santa Fe! My parents don't live here but every time they come, restaurant service is embarrassing. Get it together Outback!
